About the Challenge

Adventure and Challenge
4 pupils from Underley Hall School have taken up the challenge of riding the 73 mile Great Glen Way in the Scottish Highlands. Training has not been easy for the pupils - Having to brave some of the harshest Cumbrian winter weather on their weekly Monday rides. The pupils have not only been training on the bikes! – An important part of the training process has been to work with a professional bike mechanic learning about bike maintenance. The pupils have taken over responsibility for cleaning, maintaining and repairing the fleet of school bikes. They are working towards qualifications in ASDAN CoPE, Adventure and Residential Award and MIAS Gears Awards.
